Dawn Swims 215 Miles for African Charity!
A huge thank you for all the support from people asking how far I have to go, to friends getting in the pool and helping me to keep going when it mentally got tough, and a big thanks to Andy for his training tips!
DAWN WOODCOCK-JONES, ADVANCED MEDICAL SOLUTIONS’ CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT FACILITATOR HAS SUCCESSFULLY SWAM THE LENGTH OF THE RIVER THAMES IN AID OF ENLIVEN MAMA AFRICA.
Dawn took on the epic challenge of swimming 215 miles, the equivalent of 13,760 lengths to try and raise funds for Enliven Mama Africa, a non-government and voluntary organisation supporting young mothers and children through a number of initiatives. Her fundraising efforts raised an incredible £1579 for the charity, beating her £1000 target!
Dawn will be spending a month in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region of Ghana as a volunteer. During her time there, Dawn will be working closely with Enliven Mama Africa as part of their volunteering programme.
Dawn Woodcock-Jones, Continuous Improvement Facilitator, Advanced Medical Solutions:
“When I started the Swim the Length of the Thames Challenge last January, I was barely able to swim 2 miles a week, let alone the 6-7 miles I’ve been doing this last few months. Whilst it’s been one heck of a challenge (that I’ve hated at times), I’m super chuffed that I’ve achieved it.
A huge thank you for all the support from people asking how far I have to go, to friends getting in the pool and helping me to keep going when it mentally got tough, and a big thanks to Andy for his training tips!”
A huge well done to Dawn and good luck for the next part of your journey!
