ActivHeal® PHMB Foam Silicone Border dressing contains the antimicrobial substance polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB, polihexanide), which kills and inhibits the growth of bacteria.

The PHMB released in the presence of wound exudate is an effective antimicrobial agent against a broad spectrum of microorganisms frequently associated with the bacterial colonisation and infection of wounds, for up to seven (7) days, based on in-vitro testing.
The hydrophilic foam has a flexible, breathable backing film which ensures that moisture can be transpired through the top of the dressing and works in combination with the unique ability of the foam to absorb high levels of exudate while maintaining an optimal environment for wound healing. The perforated wound contact layer contains a gentle silicone adhesive that provides secure, non-irritating adhesion and supports non-traumatic removal during dressing changes. The dressings can be repositioned during application or lifted during wear time for observation.

ActivHeal® PHMB Foam Silicone Border dressing is indicated for moderately to heavily exuding wounds, for use in the management of:
- Post-surgical incisions
- Pressure Sores
- Venous stasis ulcers
- diabetic ulcers
- 1st and 2nd degree burns
- dermatologic disorders
- other wounds inflicted by trauma
- as a secondary dressing or cover dressing for packed wounds
- donor sites
- abrasions
- lacerations
