THE RESULTS

ACTIVHEAL® INTERNATIONAL NURSING AWARDS 2022

Community Nursing Award – Excellence in Wound Care (UK & ROI only)

Recognising excellence in wound care in a community setting.

THE WINNER IS:

Karen Brady

Karen stood out for her passion and professionalism, she made good use of existing tools in her education and her work resulted in improved outcomes for both her patients and her organisation. Both her colleagues and patients expressed their appreciation for her work.

Acute Nursing Award – Excellence in Wound Care (UK & ROI only)

Recognising excellence in wound care in a community setting.

THE WINNER IS:

Bernie Hannon

Bernie’s entry showed both her commitment to self learning and development and her passion for sharing that knowledge in innovative and creative ways. We loved the videos that allowed the nurse to know what to do before they even got to the patient.  This is a really innovative tool to aid practice.

Care Home Nursing Award – Excellence in Wound Care (UK & ROI only)

Recognising excellence in wound care in a community setting.

THE WINNER IS:

Karen Hopkins

We selected Karen who managed to maintain the profile of good skin care and prevention despite staff shortages. She also demonstrates a commitment to team working by her liaison with the GP Advanced Practitioner.

Outstanding Achievement in Wound Care Award (International award)

Highlighting remarkable accomplishments in wound care.

THE WINNER IS:

Wendy Sullivan and Carole Crabbe

Wendy: for her commitment over and above what she is paid to do, her commitment to improving the care of the indigenous communities and her volunteer work. She expresses clearly the importance of understanding the impact on the patient of their wound.

Carole: this nomination focussed on Carole’s way of being with patients - which is so important - and frequently what they remember far more than what you did. Her nominator, the practice manager will always remember that exemplary care she delivered to their father at the end of his life. She has ongoing admiration from both her colleagues and patients.

Supporting Education in Wound Care Award (International award)

Highlighting remarkable accomplishments in wound care.

THE WINNER IS:

Maria Miala

Maria was a clear winner, we felt she had overcome significant adversity to deliver this education in a resource poor area. We were impressed by her effort and courage in tackling something that no one talks about and aiming to reduce unwarranted mortality.

Rising Star in Wound Care Award (International award)

Highlighting remarkable accomplishments in wound care.

THE WINNER IS:

Brian Karbolo

Brian was the clear winner in this category - we loved that he was the ‘go to person’. He demonstrates innovative practice and a strong focus on home care for his patients.
He is forward looking with his work with the inter disciplinary team and the personal recommendation from his nominator - "I’d recommend him any day, any time", was a bonus.
